IND vs ENG Betting Tips

  • Rohit Sharma took the Player of the Match Award after a brilliant 92 from only 41 balls against Australia and we are backing the India captain to be their highest run scorer in this game. Jasprit Bumrah has taken seven wickets across his last three T20Is against England and the pace bowler is our pick for India’s top wicket taker on Thursday.
  • Jos Buttler hit spinner Harmeet Singh for 30 runs from one over in the last Super Eights game and the England skipper is our tip for their highest run scorer in this match. Jofra Archer has been England’s top wicket taker in three games across this campaign and he is our choice for their top wicket taker in the semi-final.
  • Jasprit Bumrah has been exceptional across this tournament and we recommend selecting him to have the best economy rate of India’s bowlers in this clash.

IND vs ENG Match Prediction & Betting Tips, Semi Final T20 World Cup 2024

For the second successive T20 World Cup, India and England meet at the semi-final stage! By the time this game gets underway in Guyana on Thursday morning, the sides will know who of Afghanistan and South Africa will be waiting for them in Barbados for Saturday’s final. Read on as we preview this fixture. The game begins at 10:30 local time at the Providence Stadium on June 27th.

India have been excellent across this 2024 T20 World Cup and only rain which mean an abandonment against USA has prevented them from winning all of their fixtures. Although they lost to England at this stage in the last T20 World Cup, they will be confident of getting through this time.

After defeats against Australia in the first round and to South Africa in the Super Eights, England have certainly made things harder for themselves during this defence of the title. However, they are still standing and, with captain Buttler in fine form, will fancy their chances of reaching another T20 World Cup final.

IND vs ENG Match Toss Prediction

Three of the last four T20Is at the Providence Stadium have been won by the team batting first and although both sides will back themselves to win from either position, we predict that both captains will want to bat first ahead of this game.

IND vs ENG Pitch Report

As with most of the pitches in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Providence Stadium has not been massively batter friendly. We expect some pace in the wicket but also plenty of assistance for the spinners throughout the semi-final on Thursday. A par score will be no higher than 170.

Guyana Weather Report

Humidity levels with be between 70 and 80% across this match and there is likely to be a threat of rain or even thunderstorms as well. However, the temperature will be in the high twenties so the outfield should dry quickly if required.

India Team News & Playing 11

IND Team News

There are no injury worries in the India squad ahead of this game and, with three spinners in the side already, even if this pitch looks likely to turn, we doubt there will be any changes to the team. The pace attack of Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah all completed four overs against Australia with no ill effects.

IND Key Players

  • Rohit Sharma - The captain set the tone at the top of the order for India in their last match and hit Australia’s impressive bowling attack for seven fours and eight sixes.
  • Virat Kohli - The opener has not been at his best in this campaign and has recorded two ducks. However, he has hit half-centuries in each of his three previous T20 World Cup Semi final appearances.
  • Arshdeep Singh - Ahead of the two semi-final clashes, only Fazalhaq Farooqi had more wickets in the tournament than the left-arm swing bowler who has a strike-rate of 9.60 at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
  • Jasprit Bumrah - The right-arm fast bowler was the most economical of the pace attack against Australia and also picked up the key wicket of Travis Head with a well disguised slower ball.
  • Kuldeep Yadav - India included Kuldeep in all the games played in the West Indies. He is leading the spin attack and looks in sharp form. He picked 2 wickets in the last match against Australia and we back him to pick more on this slow track. Kuldeep has picked 7 wickets in 3 matches at an impressive average of 10.71.

IND Team Form

India have been very strong and are yet to be defeated across the tournament. They comfortably beat a talented Australia side in their last game.

India Predicted Playing 11

Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah.

England Team News & Playing 11

ENG Team News

With a fully fit squad, England are likely to select the same side who took them to a ten wicket victory over USA on Sunday which would mean no place for Will Jacks or Mark Wood. Chris Jordan, who has been in and out of the team, ended USA’s innings with a hat-trick and it would be a surprise if he is left out.

ENG Key Players

  • Jos Buttler - The keeper-batter produced one of his most dominant innings in Match 49 against USA and although he will be against a tougher bowling attack, he will once again look to maintain a strike-rate of 210+
  • Harry Brook - The Yorkshireman was able to put his feet up in the last game but he had been England’s highest run scorer in two of their previous three innings.
  • Adil Rashid - Although his captain produced an attacking blitz with the bat and his bowling team-mate took a hat-trick, the spinner still took the Player of the Match Award with figures of 2/13 in the last game.
  • Jofra Archer - The right-arm quick went wicketless in the last game but he is a man for the big occasion and he will relish bowling at the marquee names in the India batting order.
  • Mark Wood - Wood is a lethal pacer and he can be dangerous for the Indian batters on this pitch which favours the fast bowlers. Wood has picked 3 wickets so far but we back him to take more in this match.

ENG Team Form

England have not been quite at their best in this competition but have won four of their last five games and were very impressive against USA.

England Predicted Playing 11

Phil Salt, Jos Buttler (c) (wk), Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Jodra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley

India vs England Head to Head

England won the last T20I clash between the sides, in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, and also won the head to head prior to that. However, it is India who lead overall 11-10.

India vs England Betting Odds

Although England have a far superior record in recent T20 World Cups, it is India who are the clear favourites with the bookies. Ahead of the match, India can be backed at 1.65 with England at 2.25.

Who will win India vs England Match?

Although England bowled out USA for 115 and then knocked off the runs from only 9.4 overs, it is India who have produced the more consistent cricket in the tournament. India are unbeaten in this campaign and we have them as the top side.

IND vs ENG Top Team Batsmen

With the bat, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli are our recommendations for India. Yadav scored a quick-fire 31 runs from 16 balls against Australia on Gros Islet on Monday and he has been India’s highest scoring batter in two matches so far in the tournament. Kohli has not been at his best in the 2024 T20 World Cup but the 35 year old still averages 48.84 at international level in this format.

Phil Salt, Jos Buttler and Harry Brook are our tips with the bat for England. Salt is usually England’s most aggressive batter but he was happy to watch Buttler do the work at the other end against USA. That said, Salt still hit a very useful 25 not out. Buttler was key for England in the last game and was also key in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final when he hit 80 not out against India.

IND vs ENG Top Team Bowlers

Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are our choices with the ball for India. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep has been in brilliant form for India over the last couple of years and got the crucial wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell in the last Super Eights game. Arshdeep conceded 37 runs against Australia but still picked up three wickets.

Our bowling picks are Sam Curran, Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer for England. Rashid was the most economical of England’s bowlers in their last Super Eights game and he has failed to take a wicket in only the matches where rain has reduced the innings in this tournament. Left-arm medium pace bowling all-rounder Curran got important wickets in the sixth and the 18th overs in the last match.

🏆 India vs England Prediction

Whenever India and England go head to head in any format, there is always plenty of attention and this will be just that once again in this game. After gaining revenge over Australia for their 2023 Cricket World Cup final defeat in their last match, India will now look to exact the same against England for their semi-final loss in the 2022 T20 World Cup. We are predicting an excellent contest but overall we think that India have the edge in pace bowling, spin bowling and with the bat. We are backing India to win.
