Kowloon Cantons Team News & Playing 11
Team News
Marquee signing Shahid Afridi will play no part in this year’s competition due to injury, with the Pakistani legend travelling to Hong Kong as a mentor only. As a result, Kowloon Cantons are unlikely to make any changes from their opening-day win against City Kaitak.
Key Players
Dwayne Smith’s incredible 40-ball 121 not out in the Kowloon’s opening fixture helped kick-off the 2017 Hong Kong Twenty20 Blitz in some style. The West Indian, alongside fellow countryman Marlon Samuels – who scored an unbeaten 59 from 33 balls in that match – lead the Cantons’ batting line-up. Leading the bowling is another overseas star, in Pakistan’s Yasir Arafat, but it was the economic bowling of Hong Kong international Ehsan Nawaz which impressed on matchday one.
Recent Form
Last year’s joint winners opened their account for 2017 with their Dwayne Smith-inspired demolition of City Kaitak and, having been the only team without a fixture on match day two, return to Mong Kok looking to return to the top of the points table.

Hung Hom Jaguars Team News & Playing 11
Team News
Pakistan Super League winner Mohammad Hafeez was originally selected by Hung Hom JD Jaguars as one of their five overseas players but the Pakistani batsman was replaced by Jonathan Foo, an uncapped West Indian batsman of Chinese descent, on the eve of the tournament. Foo repaid that faith by hitting 77 from 47 balls in the Jaguars’ defeat to HKI United.
Key Players
Darren Sammy, West Indies’ World Twenty20-winning captain, has been in the habit of winning Twenty20 tournaments of late – the 33-year-old arrived in Hong Kong on the back of winning the Pakistan Super League with Peshawar Zalmi and hit an unbeaten 52 in the Jaguars’ first match. James Franklin also scored an unbeaten half-century in that game, but it was left-arm bowler Ashley Caddy who stole the headlines, taking a hat-trick on his way to figures of 3-17. Caddy followed that up with two more against HKI United, but at the cost of 56 runs. Imran Arif also claimed three wickets in the opening match but was expensive on matchday two.
Recent Form
Hung Hom Jaguars won the opening game of the Hong Kong Blitz for the second season running, this time without the need for a super-over (as was the case in 2016). They were unable to kick on from that win, however, losing by 33 runs against HKI United.
